When did you start with us at CF100 and what brought you?

I think I started CrossFit 100 in 2013 or 2014, it honestly feels like I’ve been here much longer. It’s such an amazing environment where everyone feels like family.

What kind of fitness have you done before (growing up, etc)?

Before CrossFit, I played soccer and ran cross country. I know I just shocked at least 90% of the people reading this. Back then, weights were scary and I couldn’t lift a barbell to save my life. I ran on the treadmill, worked out on the elliptical and did minimal weight training on the machines available at the gym.

What do you do outside of the gym (work, family, hobbies)? Please don’t leave out the part about your unbelievable talents in the kitchen!

Outside of the gym, I work for Spectrum on the corporate side and support our stores in the Northeast Division. I also work for Threads Worldwide. It’s an organization helping women around the world earn money to support their families and escape poverty, sex trafficking and social injustice.

I have so many hobbies, I’m not sure we have enough time to go through them all! My main hobby is cooking and hosting dinner parties/BBQs. I love cooking for people and seeing how much fun they have while enjoying a meal with friends. I also love making beauty products such as lotions, deodorants, hair oils and muscle rubs/creams from scratch. It’s a hobby that I’ve been able to share with the people around me.

You have a sweet new home gym set up that you put to use for livestream classes. What is your training schedule like now that you’re able to be back in classes at 100?

Now that classes have started, I’ve been back at Crossfit 100 for the 6pm classes and it’s been amazing. I’ve missed seeing everyone struggling to breathe with me. Lol! At home, I’m usually working on whichever movement I’m struggling with during class. I take mental notes of what each coach has helped me with and work on it during the weekends when I “rest.” I also row 5Ks and do ROMWOD sessions on a regular basis.

What are your current plans/goals for your fitness?

My current fitness goal is to deadlift at least 400lbs by the end of the year. In order to achieve that goal, I’m eating ALL THE PROTEIN and you’ll see me at the gym at least 5 days a week.

Favorite CrossFit movement?

I love all lower body movements, but my absolute favorite is deadlift!

Least favorite?

All upper body movements! Mainly shoulder to overhead. It’s my weakest movement, but I’ve learned to work on those movements instead of skipping that class. Now I’m working on not adding a “rest” day when conditioning is on the schedule.

What would you tell someone starting out in CrossFit and/or someone trying to work on their health and fitness at home?

I would tell someone who is starting out this quote: “Everything you ever wanted, is on the other side of fear.” I was terrified to start CrossFit because I thought CrossFitters were seriously nuts. Who wants to lift heavy $&!@ over and over again?! Turns out I did and I freaking love it. There is no better therapy when you’re having a bad day or just need to clear your head. Plus you get a bonus of having a family of supportive coaches and fellow CrossFit peeps.
